Supply of Special Aids & Appliances

Aids and appliances are being provided to physically challenged persons in cases  where  there is need for  aids/appliances. Suitable aids/appliances will enable a child to go to school, an adult to get employment and disabled persons to become active and mobile. Aids and appliances like tricycles, blind sticks, crutches, hearing aids and wheelchairs are being provided to physically challenged persons according to following criteria:

  • Free of cost  whose monthly income is Rs.5000/-.
  • At a 50% discount whose monthly income between Rs.5000/- – 8000/- per month.
  • Pay the full cost whose monthly income exceeds Rs.8000/-

In order to provide aids and appliance to a large number of disabled persons, an Action Plan was prepared by the Deptt. in consultation with Govt. of India agencies like NIRTAR and ALIMCO and organisations like the Indian Red Cross Society and DRC. Since all these Agencies receive grant-in-aid from the Govt. of India under the ADIP Scheme for distribution of aids and appliances, the funds received by them for operation of this scheme in Orissa and some other States were specifically apportioned by the Department for this State.
